Velan Design - Velan Piping King
Where should this design be used?
The Velan “Piping King” is a completely bypassable forged steel
steam trap station. The station is made of the same body material as
the steam trap that is specified. The stations are available in A105
Carbon Steel, F22 Chrome Moly Alloy Steel, and F91 Chrome Moly Alloy Steel.
The “Piping Kings” are installed when a customer needs a bypass
welded around a steam trap for safety or start-up reasons. Because the
customer only has to be concerned with two (2) welds, the customer saves 30%
on total cost, and 85% on installation time. The customer can even save
more on installed cost when using Alloy Steel materials due to the post heat
treatment applications needed when welding.
“Piping Kings” are typically specified on systems 400 psig and
above when all valves and steam traps are welded.
Most customers specify the Velan “Piping King” on new installations,
however, when a customer needs to replace a steam trap and one bypass valve,
the total cost of the project will warrant the use of a Velan “Piping
King”.
