Thermodynamic steam traps work upon the principle that steam moves faster
in the pipe than condensate. Because of the behavior of two-phase flow,
engineers can use the very basic thermodynamic principle of steam to their
advantage in removing condensate from a steam system. The three different
designs in the marketplace that utilize thermodynamic principles are orifice,
thermodynamic, and impulse steam traps.
