12. Oil Atomization Drains
In this fossil fired power plant, oil atomization drains are used to remove condensate
from steam supply lines. This steam main is a high pressure / high temperature
line in the plant. Oil atomization drains are situated on this line to remove
start-up loads, hot running loads, and cool-down loads.
On oil atomization
drain applications, the best steam trap design in the marketplace
is the Velan Multi-Segmented Bimetallic Steam Trap. The oil atomization drain
application will have a “large” start-up curve, followed by a “moderate” hot
running load. The only other load that will be encountered will be a “large” cool-down
load when the line is de-energized.
Due to the fact that soot blower drains
can be very high in pressure and temperature, customers weld these
applications. Velan offers steam traps and “Piping Kings” in for oil atomization
drains in A105 Carbon Steel.
Velan will offer the “N” Series or “SPF” Series
steam traps for oil atomization drain applications.
