2. Gland Condenser Drains
In this fossil fired power plant, gland condenser drains are used to remove condensate
from the gland condenser lines. This line is a low pressure / low
temperature line in the plant. The gland condenser line runs off the turbine.
Gland condenser drains are situated on this line to remove start-up loads,
hot running loads, and cool-down loads.
On gland condenser drain applications,
the best steam trap design in the marketplace is the Velan Monovalve
Float Trap. The gland condenser drain application will have a “moderate” start-up
curve, followed by a “low” hot running load. The only other load
that will be encountered will be a “moderate” cool-down load when
the line is de-energized.
Due to the fact that gland condenser drains
can be very low in pressure and temperature, customers thread these
applications. Velan offers float traps in for gland condenser drains
in A105 Carbon Steel and Cast Iron.
Velan will offer the “MFA” Series
or “MFAS” Series
float traps for gland condenser drain applications.
